Dear Parents, Guardians, and EISD Staff Members,
In keeping with Eastland ISD’s practices to respond to COVID-19, we are notifying all families and staff members that a student who was lab-confirmed to have COVID-19 was present on the campus of Eastland High School on Thursday, August 27, 2020. This is a separate case from the lab-confirmed student on Wednesday, August 26, 2020. Due to privacy requirements, we will not be releasing the name of the individual or details that may identify him or her.
The District is working with local health officials and we have begun a case investigation. Campus administrators will contact any individuals determined to be in close contact with the infected individual. All students and staff that came into close contact will be directly notified as soon as possible. We will keep you apprised of further updates that may be necessary.
While we do not have reason to believe that those who were not in close contact with the infected individual have reason to be concerned, we ask that you, as always, watch for symptoms of COVID-19. Any of the following symptoms indicate a possible COVID-19 infection:
*Feeling feverish or a measured temperature greater than or equal to 100.0 degrees Fahrenheit
*Loss of taste or smell
*Cough
*Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
*Fatigue
*Headache
*Chills
*Sore throat
*Congestion or runny nose
*Shaking or exaggerated shivering
*Significant muscle pain or ache
*Diarrhea, nausea or vomiting
If you or any member of the EISD community does begin experiencing any of these symptoms in a way that is not typical, we encourage you to contact your physician. We encourage anyone in the EISD community who is lab-confirmed to have COVID-19 to please notify our school by contacting the campus administrator.

Regarding Stadium capacity at Maverick Stadium:
As many of you know, one of the covid 19 safety precautions is limited spectator capacity at all UIL events. During regular competitions limited tickets will be purchased, in advance, in an effort to assist us in meeting the capacity expectations. However, we do have several scrimmages scheduled, in all areas of competition, in which the same restrictions are in place but we will not be selling tickets. We ask if your child is not competing please allow for family member(s) of the student athletes to have priority attendance.
At our home scrimmages administrators will be monitoring capacity. We are limited to every other row and 6 feet between family groups. Please comply with the request made by the staff in an effort to meet the guidelines. UIL has made it clear, failure to comply with the guidelines could result in cancellation of home games or cancelation of a season.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

Today, Friday March 6th we will release at 12:00 for Spring Break! School will resume at normal time on Monday, March 16th. Have a happy and safe Spring Break!
Eastland ISD will have a 10:00 start on Thursday 2/6/2020. Buses will run 2 hours late.
Eastland ISD will be closed on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 due to the threat of inclement weather and a high number of absences due to illness. All activities on Wednesday have been cancelled. Activities scheduled for Tuesday night will proceed as scheduled.
The National Weather Service upgraded its weather advisory for Eastland County from a Severe Weather Watch to Severe Weather Warning at approximately noon today. The forecast includes sleet and snow accumulations from 2” to 4” beginning at midnight through 6 pm CST on Wednesday. In addition to the possibility of hazardous road conditions, Eastland ISD staff will be thoroughly disinfecting all three of its campuses which have seen a high number of absences by both students and staff.
There is no decision regarding the possibility of closure or delay to the start of school on Thursday at this time. Eastland ISD officials encourage parents and the community to be cautious on the roadways and to attend to any illness that students may have.
Thank you,
EISD Administration
