At Lubbock on Tuesday, October 22nd, the Boys and Girls Varsity Cross Country teams ran at the Region 1-3A championships! Both teams had excellent showings with every team member posting their personal best time for the Mae Simmons course.
The Varsity Girls team had their highest team finish in 7th place after placing 22nd last season. Girls team members are Lily Bird, Brooklyn Bird, Jayci Majors, Lauryne Hobbs, Scarlet Messenger, Ella Rodgers and Rhyse Rutledge. The team manager is Taylar Fullen.
The Varsity Boys team finished as runners up. They will run at the State Meet on the Old Settlers Park course in Round Rock at 10:00 AM on November 2. It is believed to be the first time Eastland has sent a Cross Country team to state. Boys team members are Paxton Brown, Chase Clark, Miguel Hernandez, Sammy Herrera, Andrew Hicks, Glyn McCleskey and Jayton Wesley. The team manager is Brady Bramlett.
The coaches would like to thank the senior captains this season for their example, leadership, and endurance. They not only stuck it out for four seasons, but also provided mentoring for the teams on top of their outstanding leadership. Those captains are Lily Bird, Chase Clark, Sammy Herrera, Andrew Hicks, and Jayton Wesley.
